Nathalie Durocher is a panelist at the Rendez-vous annuel de l’Autorité des marchés financiers

Nathalie Durocher | Montréal

Nathalie Durocher is a panelist at the conference entitled “Vente d’assurance par Internet: vers quel modèle d’encadrement le régulateur doit-il s’orienter?”

Consumers today want to interact with their financial products and services providers at their own convenience, mainly through their smart phones.

Getting an online insurance quote may be easy and fast for some people, but how can we make sure that Internet users purchase the insurance that truly matches their needs? The Act respecting the Autorité des marchés financiers (Québec) allows for the provision of insurance coverage or a specific financial service without any intervention of a natural person. The Autorité des marchés financiers is mandated to develop rules to oversee these situations. How can we provide consumers with the same kind of protection offered in person by a representative?
