Miller Thomson charts a uniquely Pan-Canadian course

October 26, 2016

Miller Thomson LLP is charting a uniquely pan-Canadian course at a time when consolidation and globalization are the watchwords for Canada’s legal industry. The firm competes both locally and nationally, delivering local knowledge and understanding backed by national expertise. It is a model that successfully supports 500 lawyers practicing in 11 offices across the country.

The firm’s unique position in the Canadian market is reflected in today’s launch of a new brand that includes a new visual identity, web site and marketing campaign.

“No other law firm in Canada has set down roots in this country the way we have,” said Kent Davidson, Chair of Miller Thomson. “Our relationships with our clients are extremely close. Being open, accessible and service-minded aren’t qualities we have to train for, they come naturally to our people. I believe it has to do with the fact that we have struck the right balance between a strong local focus and our national ambition.”

Over the past 10 years, Miller Thomson has more than doubled in size with offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Toronto, Markham and Montréal.

“We are seeing a lot of change in our industry and firms are reacting in a variety of ways,” said Davidson. “We have consciously chosen to reinvest in who we are and what got us here. We are a decidedly entrepreneurial firm with a passion for our craft. We are champions for independent business and the communities in which we live and work. And we embrace the changing economy and are working hard to reflect that in how we do business every day.”

The launch of the new Miller Thomson brand coincides with the completion of important organizational changes designed to strengthen the firm’s performance. The firm is now aligned around national practice groups. This shift encourages greater collaboration across offices, maximizing expertise and accelerating performance for clients across Canada.
