On January 1, 2021 new workplace harassment and violence prevention obligations came into effect for federally-regulated employers. The new harassment and violence obligations significantly expand employer responsibilities for preventing and responding to harassment and violence in the workplace, including stringent requirements regarding investigations.
New administrative monetary penalties have also come into effect, to curb widespread non-compliance with the Canada Labour Code.
