Getting Ready for November 1st : Tips to Prepare for Mandatory Breach Notification

From 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. EST
On November 1st, 2018, mandatory breach notification requirements under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) will be coming into force. Additionally, organizations will be required to keep a registry of any breach of security safeguards which can range from the loss of a USB key containing personal information to a major cyber-attack. These requirements will have significant impacts on an organization’s cybersecurity and overall privacy compliance strategy. This session will cover the following items:

– Overview of the legal requirements under PIPEDA’s Breach of Security Safeguards Regulations;
– Guidance provided by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (and potential enforcement posture)
– Practical tips on how to create or update existing data and privacy compliance programs.
