In October 2018, Microsoft Studios (“Microsoft”) acquired Compulsion Games Inc. (“Compulsion”) for an undisclosed amount in what has been called one of the largest acquisitions of an independent video game studio in Canada in 2018. Compulsion is one of several independent studios Microsoft acquired in 2018. Compulsion will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary of Microsoft.
Compulsion Games Inc. is a Canadian video game development studio founded in 2009 in Montréal, Quebec, and is known notably for their successful games Contrast and We Happy Few.
