On July 29, 2016, Keywords International Corporation Inc. acquired the entire equity share capital of Volta Creation Inc. from parent company Frima Studio for $5.25 million.
Volta is based in Québec City and provides outsourced art creation services to the video games industry with a particular emphasis on concept art. The acquisition of Volta is in line with Keywords’ strategy to develop its art services line by adding additional capabilities and capacity, and will move Keywords further upstream in the game development cycle.
Keywords International provides technical services to the video game industry and is a subsidiary of Keywords Studios plc (AIM: KWS) which is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.
Miller Thomson advised Keywords International Corporation Inc. in this acquisition with a team that included Philipp Park, Stéphanie Normandin and Isabella Covino (corporate/M&A), Andrew Etcovitch (tax) and Eric Dufour (competition).
