Strom v. The Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association, 2018 SKQB 110
On April 11, 2018, the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan held that the Discipline Committee of the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association acted reasonably and proportionally balanced the Charter rights of the appellant against its statutory objectives in deciding to fine her for off-duty professional misconduct. The appeal was entirely dismissed both as to the finding of misconduct, as well as to the quantum of the fine and costs award.
Roger Lepage and Jonathan Martin (commercial litigation) represented the Saskatchewan Registered Nurse’ Association before the Court of Queen’s Bench. Roger Lepage and Romain Baudemont (commercial litigation) acted for the Investigation Committee in the proceeding before the Discipline Committee.
