Overview

Eugene received his joint J.D./J.D. degrees from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law (Canada) and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (U.S.), graduating as the recipient of several awards, including Book Award for top academic standing in Comparative Legal Writing and Research and Dean’s List. He returns to Miller Thomson after beginning his career as a summer student at the Firm. Prior to joining Miller Thomson, Eugene was Judicial Extern to the late U.S. District Judge the Honourable Arthur J. Tarnow.

While attending Windsor Law, Eugene served as a Student Lawyer at the International Intellectual Property (Patent) Clinic, where he represented inventors before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He also volunteered as a Senior Caseworker at Community Legal Aid, where he represented low-income and vulnerable clients in criminal law, employment, and landlord and tenant matters. He also held leadership roles with the Asian Law Students’ Organization and Christian Legal Fellowship while assisting with the Faculty Recruitment Committee and Windsor Law Peer Mentorship Program.

Eugene also holds a Honours Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) in Political Science from the University of Toronto. While at the University of Toronto, he was an editor of the Intra Vires Undergraduate Law Journal, a member of the University of Toronto Pre-Law Society’s Mooting Team, and volunteered at the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Eugene also completed an internship in the in-house legal department of a leading global Fortune 500 in vitro diagnostics company. Eugene believes his cross-cultural and cross-functional experiences will empower him to better understand and advance clients’ ambitions.

While not in the office, Eugene enjoys exploring Toronto’s restaurant scene and travelling internationally.
