Estates Paraprofessional – Toronto

We are currently seeking an experienced Estates Paraprofessional to join our Private Client Services group. Our Private Client Services group is one of the largest and most prominent in Canada, specializing in the day-to-day and long-term planning needs of many of Canada’s most successful private family enterprises and individuals. We provide a complete range of services with respect to estate planning, personal and corporate tax, business succession planning, trusts, estate administration, trust and estate litigation and incapacity and elder law.

In this role, your tasks will include (but will not be limited to):

• Providing assistance to executors or administrators with respect to administering an estate or a trust
• Preparation of court application materials and management plans for guardianship applications
• Preparing the application for Certificate of Appointment and supporting documents
• Preparing and arranging for publication of notice to creditors
• Meeting with client’s accountants to assist in tax return preparation
• Maintain and prepare estate accounts
• Prepare court documentation for passing of account applications
• Administration of transfer or liquidation of assets;
• Communicating with lawyers, clients, accountants, transfer agents, banks and stock brokers
• Conducting research to determine required documentation and procedure as it pertains to variances in Wills, Codicils, Holograph Wills
• Drafting documents and correspondence used during the administration of an estate
• Other tasks as required

To be successful in this role, you possess:

• Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience as an Estates Paraprofessional with demonstrated experience in estate and trust administration, estate accounting and estate planning
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
• Solid work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience with estate software packages is an asset
• Sound judgment to deal with complex or sensitive issues
• Excellent time management skills
• A commitment to client service
