Now, more than ever before, we are exceptionally well positioned to assist domestic and international decision makers with all of their Canadian legal needs, everyday.
Diversity
In the fall of 2008, Miller Thomson launched its Diversity Policy in all offices across Canada. The basis for our diversity policy is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture that respects and values the diverse backgrounds, differences and traditions of all firm members. The policy reflects our continued commitment to expanding both internally and externally in ways that reflect our evolving national fabric. An inherent part of this national fabric is the diversity that enables us to find strength in our differences. It is our sincere hope that this policy will serve as a solid foundation for a workplace culture that is welcoming to everyone – clients, lawyers and staff; and that it fosters an environment in which everyone feels valued and included.
Women's Leadership Initiative
In 2006, the Miller Thomson Women’s Leadership Initiative (“WLI”) was launched with the mission to improve the retention of women lawyers, increase the representation of women in leadership positions, develop excellence in talent management, and integrate the work of the WLI with other firm activities. This existence of WLI gained even greater significance in light of the release of the Law Society of Upper Canada’s report on the Retention of Women in Private Practice published in February, 2008, and the fact that over 50% of law school graduates in Canada are women. Miller Thomson has always been committed to fostering a corporate culture that plays to the strength of the rising presence of women in law. This past year, when compared with 10 other top Toronto offices of Bay Street firms, Miller Thomson ranked #1 for having the highest number of female associates, outpacing the next firm by 13.9 %. Going forward, the WLI will continue to develop ways to attract and retain women within the ranks of this profession, and our firm.
Miller Thomson LLP is a proud signatory of the Justicia Agreement
