Biography
Craig Mills practices in the area of commercial and insolvency litigation. He acts for a broad range of clients including secured creditors, equipment lessors, franchisors, court-appointed and private receivers and trustees in bankruptcy. Mr. Mills is involved in proceedings relating to creditors’ remedies, bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring contract disputes and insurance defence. He has appeared as counsel in insolvency and restructuring proceedings under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and is frequently involved in cases on the Commercial List and in Bankruptcy Court in connection with bankruptcies, receiverships and proposals.
In his general commercial litigation practice, Mr. Mills has acted in cases involving breach of contract, franchise disputes under the Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure) and shareholder remedies.
Within his defence practice, Mr. Mills represents a wide variety of professionals including insurance brokers, appraisers and real estate agents.
Mr. Mills has appeared as counsel before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has also been involved in numerous mediations and arbitrations.
Mr. Mills strives to provide his clients with timely advice in order to ensure that they understand the legal process and the options available to them at each stage. He works proactively with his clients, working towards a just result. Mr. Mills has varied interests outside the practice of law. He has traveled throughout Europe, Asia, Mexico and the Middle East. He plays tennis and beach volleyball and is an avid reader.
