Extended three-year term an endorsement of firm’s strategic market direction
TORONTO, ON, January 26, 2011 – The partners of Miller Thomson LLP have acclaimed Gerald Courage as Chair of the national law firm for a second, three-year term. The extended role is seen as a strong endorsement of the firm’s current performance and market direction.

For the past three years Miller Thomson has been named as a “Go-to Law Firm” in Corporate Counsel magazine’s international reference directory, In-house Law Departments at the Top 500 Companies.
In December, Miller Thomson announced its merger with Balfour Moss, making it the only national firm with a presence in the province of Saskatchewan – the leading provincial economy in 2010 and soon to become the largest producer of conventional oil in the country.
Miller Thomson also recently launched a new national brand designed to communicate the firm’s progressive, no-nonsense approach to the practices of business law and litigation.

Courage was first elected Chair of the firm in 2008. He has a tax law background that spans more than 30 years. During this time, he has provided counsel on domestic and international tax issues to public and private business – based in Canada and abroad – across a wide range of industries. Courage holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen’s University and a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School.
