MILLER THOMSON PARTNER RECOGNIZED AS YOUNG LEADER
February 23, 2011 (WATERLOO) – Miller Thomson LLP is proud to announce that Dwayne
Kuiper, Partner in the Corporate Commercial practice group of Miller Thomson’s Kitchener-Waterloo office,
has been recognized as one of Waterloo Region’s “40 Under 40” by the Waterloo
Region Record.
The 40 Under 40
Awards honour young leaders under the age of 40, highlighting the achievements
of those who have accomplished both professional milestones as well as giving
back to the community.
“Dwayne has
been instrumental in the continued success of the firm and of this office in
particular,” says Gord. “His leadership, his work ethic, and his involvement in
the community at large are very much valued by our team of lawyers.”
Dwayne’s dedication
to the community is reflected by his leadership efforts within non-profit
organizations. He is the Director of the Sunbeam
Residential Development Centre, Director of the Business and Education
Partnership of Waterloo Region and Past President and Director of the Waterloo
Regional Addiction and Family Counselling Association.
One of the
biggest undertakings in his career occurred when Dwayne assumed a leadership role
in the Corporate Practice Group by becoming the youngest ever Partner to be
elected as the group’s Chair.

Despite
assuming the added responsibilities as Chair of the Corporate Practice Group,
Dwayne’s reputation as a legal services provider remains in the forefront of
his professional achievements. His thriving practice includes both corporate and commercial law as well as
real property law. On behalf of his corporate clients, he deals with a wide
variety of matters including commercial leasing, asset and share purchase
transactions, incorporations, reorganizations, shareholder agreements and other
major business agreements. His property law experience includes residential and
commercial transactions, conveyance, financing and leasing. He frequently
represents both borrowers and lenders in connection with commercial financing
and secured loan transactions.
