Teresa Meadows is an Environmental Lawyer, and Associate in the Edmonton office of Miller Thomson. Ms. Meadows brings more than 25 years of experience in the environmental regulatory field to her environmental and aboriginal law practice. Her diverse background includes working with Alberta Environment as a park naturalist, Stantec Consulting Ltd. as an environmental regulatory consultant, and as an associate with Miller Thomson, providing environmental and regulatory advice to a variety of public and private sector clients. Ms. Meadows is currently heading up the Alberta contingent of Miller Thomson’s National Environmental Law Group.
Ms. Meadows has worked with all levels of environmental authority in Alberta as an advisor and advocate, and was the regulatory lead on several high-profile approval applications and renewals for clients proposing industrial developments including chemical plants, waste management facilities, pipelines and shipping facilities, residential developments, and public sector transportation and infrastructure developments. She is known for combining her practical experience, technical knowledge of environmental issues and detailed understanding of the regulatory system in Alberta to provide solutions to complex environmental regulatory problems.
As a litigator, Ms. Meadows has successfully advocated before administrative tribunals, all levels of court in Alberta, and the Supreme Court of Canada. She is a frequent speaker and contributor to various publications on environmental and aboriginal law topics. Since 2001, she has taught the environmental law component of the environmental sciences remediation practicum course at the University of Alberta. She is currently the co-author of the Alberta Commentary Chapter of the Lexis/Nexis Publication “Canadian Environmental Law” (2d edition), with a focus on environmental assessment, approvals, waste management and decommissioning/ reclamation.
