Portrait of Sylvie Marchand

Overview

Sylvie Marchand joined the Real Estate and Commercial Group in 2007. From 1989 to 2004, Sylvie acquired valuable experience in real estate law working as a notary in her own private practice.

Prior to joining Miller Thomson, she worked for two major law firms in Montréal in the fields of banking, financial products and commercial real estate.

In her practice, Sylvie focuses mainly on commercial real estate transactions (e.g., office buildings, shopping centers, factories, mines, etc.). As such, she participates in the drafting of documents relating to real estate transactions, including deeds hypothecs, deeds of sale, servitudes (easements), applications for the opening of land files, notices of lease, acquittances and releases, and the registration of deeds in the land register. She also participates in the drafting and revision of title opinions, as well as of reports following the sale under judicial authority and collocation schemes. She researches title problems and implements appropriate solutions/corrections, which may require the subscription, negotiation and revision of title insurance products.
