Profile
Richard Barbacki is a tax lawyer and Associate for the Montréal office of Miller Thomson. He joined the Tax group of the Montréal office in September 2008.
Mr. Barbacki’s current area of practice focuses on taxation law with an emphasis on estate planning, business successions, trusts and wills, as well as corporate reorganizations. His clientele consists mainly of small to medium business owners and high net worth individuals. Mr. Barbacki also serves as trustee of a number of trusts and sits on the Board several Canadian corporations.
He is the author of various papers that have been presented at meetings of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Fiscal and Financial Planning Association (1986, 1990, 1991 and 2001), and was a frequent lecturer on tax issues for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (1979-82). He has also taught several courses for the Quebec Order of Chartered Accountants such as Tax Planning for Business Succession and Taxation of Family Trusts.
Mr. Barbacki is fluent in English and French and also speaks Polish.
