Miller Thomson National Scholarship Programme comes to a close, effective November 15, 2013.
In light of the Programme being discontinued, the Miller Thomson Foundation will no longer accept scholarship applications for 2014 and onward.
Message from the Foundation
In a pioneering move almost 2 decades ago, Miller Thomson established its National Scholarship Programme as a way of doing its part in driving home the importance of higher education in shaping a strong future workforce for Canadian business and industry. Since its inception, the Programme has provided financial support totalling almost $3.5 million to exceptional high school students across the country who were about to embark on their post-secondary education.
While the firm takes great pride in having helped more than 2,800 students, 2014 will mark the discontinuation of the Programme.
We have many to thank for their roles in having made the National Scholarship Programme the success it has been. From the high school administrators and teachers, as well as the universities’ admissions officers, to our Board of Governors, the Programme’s Executive Director, and its Trustee, not to mention the Miller Thomson partners who have served on the Board of Directors, all have given extraordinary time, effort, energy, and enthusiasm to this special cause over the years.
The notes of appreciation from parents and scholarship recipients alike tell us that the Programme was indeed able to accomplish what we had set out to do back in 1995.
We are gratified by that, and while the National Scholarship Programme has drawn to a close, Miller Thomson remains committed to a host of other national, regional and local public and social service initiatives that “give back” and provide critical support, financial and otherwise, to the communities in which we live and work.
