Recent Developments

Miller Thomson acted as Ontario counsel for St. John’s, Newfoundland-based Fortis Properties Corporation in the recent acquisition of its twenty-third hotel, the StationPark All Suite Hotel located in London, Ontario.

Fortis Properties is a subsidiary of Fortis Inc., and has operations in hotels and commercial and retail real estate throughout Canada. It owns and operates hotels in eight Canadian provinces and employs over 2,400 people. The acquisition of StationPark further enhances Fortis Properties’ position in the Southwestern Ontario market where it currently owns and operate five hotels.

Working with Lead Greg Connors of McInnes Cooper, were Miller Thomson’s deal team, comprised of Aaron Atcheson (real estate) of the London office, along with the Toronto office’s Laura Cassiani (employment), Robert Bell (employment) and Katherine Xilinas (tax).
