Standing strong together against hate and Islamophobia

Three years ago, Canadians were shocked to realize that a brutal, senseless and racially motivated attack on a Quebec mosque could happen in their country. There are no words to express our deep sorrow, including the sorrow of our Muslim colleagues, over yet another incomprehensible act of violence, this time inflicted on a Muslim family out for an evening walk on Sunday in north London. Our heartfelt condolences go out to their family, neighbours, friends, fellow Mosque members, the larger Muslim community and especially to the 9 year old survivor who faces a future without 3 generations of family to support and guide him. We grieve with the Muslim community in London, and as a whole. This tragic event, like the lives it took, must not be forgotten. Intolerance has no place in our country. We must stand strong together against hate and Islamophobia in favour of humanity and acceptance of all. We are all neighbours with much in common. Our hopes for a better future can only be realized when we realize our common hopes, common bonds and common humanity.
