On January 1, 2015 Citizenship and Immigration Canada (“CIC”) launches the much anticipated Express Entry system for certain economic permanent residence application programs. Express Entry is being lauded by CIC as a way to reduce processing times, and to select applicants for permanent residence who are most likely to succeed in Canada — but will it really be beneficial for ALL potential applicants?
This new entirely electronic system intends to manage permanent residence applications and rank applicants with the Comprehensive Ranking System, where each applicants’ “success factors” are considered and given points in order to establish their rank within the pool of applicants.
